An individual who recently visited Cincinnati has tested positive for measles, according to the Cincinnati Health Department. The visitor flew from Chicago to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on April 10 and subsequently went to Morton’s Steakhouse on Vine Street for takeout. They then took a Lyft to the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati on West Fifth Street at around 9 p.m.
As a result, staff, guests, or visitors at the Hyatt Regency and Morton’s Steakhouse on April 10 may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus. Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and rash. Those who believe they may have been exposed are advised to isolate themselves and call their doctor for testing. It is important not to go to the emergency room or urgent care for testing, as this could put others at risk of exposure.
Individuals are also encouraged to check their immunization records to see if they have received the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, and rubella. If vaccinated or if they have previously had measles, the risk of infection is considered to be very low. However, anyone experiencing symptoms or with questions should contact the Cincinnati Health Department at 513-357-7462.
