Thousands of mourners gathered in Massapequa, NY to pay their respects at the funeral of fallen NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller. The St. Rose of Lima Church was filled with a sea of blue as Diller’s coffin was carried inside.
During the emotional service, Diller’s wife, Stephanie, spoke about their life together, their son Ryan, and Diller’s unwavering dedication to his family. Stephanie shared that her late husband was incredibly proud of their son and took great joy in celebrating his accomplishments.
In a poignant moment, Officer Diller was posthumously promoted to detective, highlighting his years of service and commitment to the NYPD. To further honor his memory, a billboard in Times Square now pays tribute to Diller and his sacrifice.
The generosity of various organizations has helped ease the burden on the Diller family during this difficult time. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has pledged to pay off the family’s mortgage, while other groups have donated to cover funeral costs and provide for Ryan’s education.
The individuals responsible for Diller’s tragic death, gunman Guy Rivera and driver Lindy Jones, are facing serious charges. Rivera has been charged with first-degree murder of a police officer, along with other offenses. Jones, who was out on bail at the time of the shooting, has also been charged in connection to the incident.
The community continues to come together to support the Diller family and honor the life and service of Officer Jonathan Diller.
