Colin Albert, a key witness in the Karen Read murder trial, took the stand on Wednesday to testify about the events surrounding the death of Officer John O’Keefe. Albert, who is the son of Canton Select Board member Chris Albert and his wife Julie Albert, as well as the nephew of retired Boston Police Officer Brian Albert, provided crucial insight into the case.
During his testimony, Albert detailed his whereabouts on the night of O’Keefe’s death, shedding light on the events leading up to the tragic incident. The trial, which is being broadcast live on NBC Boston’s platforms, has also seen testimony from witnesses Julie Nagel, Teri Kun, Ryan Nagel, Heather Maxon, Richard D’Antuono, Allison McCabe, and Colin Albert himself.
Nagel described seeing a black SUV and a “black blob” on the lawn, while Kun discussed DNA samples found at the scene. Ryan Nagel testified to seeing the SUV at the Albert home, Maxon claimed to have seen a man inside the vehicle, and D’Antuono observed the SUV parked with no damage. McCabe recounted picking up Colin Albert on the night in question, further solidifying his alibi.
The court adjourned for lunch following Albert’s testimony, with the defense expected to cross-examine him on Thursday morning. Read, who is charged with second-degree murder in O’Keefe’s death, maintains her innocence and claims she has been framed for the crime.
As the trial continues to unfold, more details are expected to emerge regarding the events of that fateful night. Stay tuned for updates as the case progresses.
