After 36 years at Apple, Frank Casanova, senior director and head of product marketing for Apple Vision Pro, has announced his retirement. Casanova confirmed the news on his LinkedIn profile, marking the end of a long and successful career with the tech giant.
Throughout his tenure at Apple, Casanova held various key roles, including senior director of graphics for Mac OS X in 1997 and leading the marketing team for expanding the iPhone to new carriers in 2007. In 2019, he was selected to lead the marketing efforts for Apple’s augmented reality tools, ultimately leading to the development and launch of Apple Vision Pro in 2023.
Apple Vision Pro, a cutting-edge augmented reality device, was officially launched in the US this February. Casanova was present at the launch day event in Los Angeles alongside other Apple executives. However, the high price tag of $3,499 and limited availability of Vision Pro resulted in a modest launch. Analysts are now predicting that Apple will ship around 400,000 units by the end of the year, falling short of the initial estimate of 800,000 units.
Casanova’s retirement comes at a significant time for Apple, as they navigate the success of the Vision Pro and continue to innovate in the tech industry. His contributions to the company have been invaluable, and his presence will surely be missed by colleagues and fans alike. We wish Frank Casanova all the best in his future endeavors.
