In celebration of Pi Day 2024, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Education Office is hosting its annual Pi Day Challenge. The challenge allows participants to put on their scientist and engineer thinking caps as they solve math problems related to the mathematical constant pi.
The challenge features questions related to various missions and technologies, including the Deep Space Optical Communications technology on NASA’s Psyche spacecraft, the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft, Earth-orbiting satellites, rovers on the Moon, and even the Hubble Space Telescope and James Webb Space Telescope.
Participants can find each of the nearly four dozen different questions online, along with an accompanying worksheet. After solving the problems, participants can check their answers when NASA posts them online.
The Pi Day Challenge is a unique and fun way to celebrate the mathematical constant pi and gain insight into NASA’s various missions and technologies. It offers a space-y twist on traditional Pi Day celebrations and encourages participants to engage with the world of science and engineering.
So, as Pi Day 2024 approaches, grab a pencil, sharpen your mind, and join NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Education Office in celebrating with the annual Pi Day Challenge.
