Intuitive Receives FDA Clearance for Next-Generation Robotic Surgical System
Global technology leader in minimally invasive care, Intuitive, has recently received FDA clearance for their fifth-generation robotic system, da Vinci 5. This new system boasts over 150 enhancements, including improved accuracy and precision, next-generation 3D display and image processing, and force-sensing technology for measuring subtle forces during surgery.
The da Vinci 5 system is designed to streamline workflow in the operating room, potentially saving valuable time without compromising patient safety. It also offers expanded computing power and advanced data capabilities, along with greater surgeon comfort thanks to a redesigned console.
Initially available to select customers in the U.S., Intuitive plans to closely monitor the system’s use and benefits with the help of surgeons. The company’s Chief Medical Officer, Myriam J. Curet, M.D., emphasizes the focus on solving important problems and meeting customers’ needs with innovative technology.
Intuitive will be hosting a teleconference on March 18, 2024, to discuss the features of da Vinci 5 and its launch plans. The da Vinci family already includes multiport systems such as da Vinci X and da Vinci Xi, along with the single-port system da Vinci SP, providing options for surgeons and hospitals.
