Samsung Semiconductor’s System LSI business arm, known for developing cutting-edge Exynos chips and other connectivity and security solutions, has announced its next-generation flagship Exynos processor, the Exynos 2400. In an interview with Sanjith Thayyilthodiyil, the Vice President of System LSI’s Sales & Marketing team at Samsung Semiconductor, the company revealed its short-term and long-term goals.
One of Samsung’s primary objectives is to provide a platform that merges logic and memory components, packages, and systems. The company also aims to lead in hyper-intelligent, hyper-connected, and hyper-data technologies. The Exynos 2400 is set to bring significant improvements in CPU, GPU, and AI performance, particularly in graphics capability and ray tracing performance.
In addition, Samsung has extended its partnership with AMD, a renowned graphics technology company. AMD Radeon graphics technology will now be incorporated into an extended range of Samsung Exynos products. Samsung’s strategy for brand partnerships is based on market supply and demand dynamics to ensure consistency.
Optimization efforts are a collaborative endeavor between Samsung LSI and Samsung MX. The company also maintains a strong and ongoing partnership with Arm for the development of next-generation mobile technologies. Samsung’s Zoom Anyplace technology, which is based on its 200-million pixel image sensor, allows for up to 4x close-ups of moving objects without image degradation.
Samsung’s focus is on both ultra-high resolution camera sensors and big-pixel sensors optimized for low-light environments. The company aims to elevate its mobile image sensor technologies beyond DSLR-grade performance and advance next-generation CIS technologies. Samsung’s ISOCELL Vizion lineup, which includes Time of Flight (ToF) and global shutter sensors, is geared towards next-generation applications.
Moreover, Samsung is open to exploring the integration of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology into other System LSI chips. Generative AI is also transitioning to proactive AI, and Samsung’s System LSI platform solutions drive advancements in proactive AI.
The partnership between Samsung and AMD remains long-term and intact, with expectations of more Exynos chips featuring AMD GPUs in the future. Additionally, Samsung is working on developing ultra-high-resolution camera sensors, big format sensors, and a LiDAR sensor for 3D depth mapping.
