Valve, the gaming company behind Counter-Strike 2, has issued a warning to players about the latest graphics driver from AMD. The driver has the potential to cause bans due to a problem with AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature. Reports have emerged of players receiving Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) bans after using the updated driver.
The issue arises from AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature inadvertently tricking Valve’s Anti-Cheat system, causing it to falsely detect cheating. A Reddit thread has seen a wave of comments from players claiming to have been banned after updating their graphics driver.
Valve has announced that once AMD releases an update to fix the issue, bans will be reversed. In order to prevent further bans, Valve advises players to disable the Anti-Lag+ feature in their graphics card settings until the problem is resolved. Detailed instructions on how to disable the feature in AMD Radeon Software have been provided.
Engadget, a popular technology news website, has reached out to AMD for a comment regarding the situation. The company has not yet responded.
Counter-Strike 2, which was launched in September, features upgraded graphics and maps that utilize the Source 2 engine. However, it is important to note that the game is exclusive to the Windows platform and is not available for macOS or older PCs.
As Valve works with AMD to address the issue, players are urged to follow the recommended instructions provided by Valve to avoid any potential issues associated with the graphics driver. Keeping the Anti-Lag+ feature disabled until a fix is provided will help ensure a fair and enjoyable gaming experience for Counter-Strike 2 players.
