The search for 6-year-old Lin’Ajah Brooker, who was swept away by the Chester Creek in Delaware County, has shifted to a recovery mission, as Chester Fire Commissioner John-Paul Shirley confirmed that search efforts will continue until dusk before being halted due to safety concerns.
Despite the challenges posed by over two inches of rain falling in Chester, leading to rapid currents and debris in the creek, search crews are deploying a wide array of technology and equipment in an effort to locate Lin’Ajah. Sonar, infrared, thermal imaging technology, smaller boats, larger boats, helicopters, and drones are all being used to search for the missing child.
Lin’Ajah’s family members are holding out hope for her safe recovery, with her aunt expressing optimism that she will be found alive. The young girl disappeared after she slipped into the creek while playing near the water, making her the sole individual reported missing in this incident.
As the community comes together to support Lin’Ajah’s family and the ongoing search efforts, officials are urging caution and emphasizing the dangerous conditions posed by the weather and the waterway. The recovery mission will resume at first light, with search and rescue teams committed to finding Lin’Ajah and bringing her home safely.
